Papers of the Townsend family of Oyster Bay and Albany, N.Y., particularly of Isaiah Townsend, and of Solomon Townsend II and his sons. Documents include letters, deeds, wills, inventories, surveys, maps, military papers, accounts, address books, genealogical records, clippings, poems, photographs and sketches. Deeds and other land records pertain to Oyster Bay and Albany, also Brookhaven, Brooklyn, Queens and Orange County, N.Y. Letters concern business, political and family matters. Other named in the papers include Jacob Townsend, Robert Townsend, Sarah (Sally) Townsend, Phebe Townsend and her husband Ebenezer Seely, Helene DeKay Townsend (wife of Solomon II), Maurice Townsend; also Andrew Cocks, James Farley, William Winder and members of related families, including the Underhills.
